Kristin Carpenter
Life can be overwhelming, challenging and messy, I get it. It may not go the way you hoped it to, and sometimes you might not feel fully connected to yourself, thats where therapy can help. I believe that creating meaningful change is always a possibility.
I believe that through human connection we can get to know ourselves on a deeper level and find easier ways to cope with the ups and downs, set boundaries and feel fulfilled in life. I believe in the ability of each person to find the happiest and best version of themself and know that therapy can help with that journey. I strive to create a safe environment where people can share the real, the messy, and the vulnerable parts of their life as they embark on a path towards healing and reconnecting with their true, authentic self.
No two journeys are alike, in life or in therapy. I honour this by drawing from a variety of different approaches focused on processing trauma and emotions, building solutions, and finding peace in life and in ourselves.
My areas of focus when working with clients include trauma, ADHD, body image and self esteem, addiction, anxiety, depression and navigating relationship concerns.
Kristin is a Registered Provisional Psychologist in Alberta. She holds a Master of Counselling degree from City University of Seattle. Throughout her life, Kristin has had the opportunity to work with non-profit organizations alongside individuals from many different walks of life. Kristin also has experience providing counselling to both individuals and couples.

“Mental health is not a destination but a process- its about how you drive, not where you’re going.”
My main focus as your therapist is to provide you with a safe, comfortable and compassionate environment in order to support you and meet you where you are at in your journey, wherever that may be. Our alliance is of the utmost importance and I strive to form meaningful and strong therapeutic connections so that my clients can flourish.
I approach therapy with the recognition that individuals are different, and that these differences have been shaped by upbringing, society and the environment as a whole. Working from a positive and person-centred lens, we will work together to identify your strengths and empower you in your journey towards meaningful growth and change. I have experience working with individuals, couples/relationships of all kinds, gender/sexuality/identity, trauma, ADHD and teen therapy.
Specializing in couples and relationship therapy, I help couples with opening lines of communication, disagreeing in a healthy, constructive and beneficial way by working towards deeper understanding and finding shared meaning. I believe strength and hope can be found in the darkest of places, and that grief and joy can coexist - My goal is to provide you with the right space and environment to find that balance!

Your story deserves to be heard. With all the noise in the world, sometimes just having the space to share your own story can be the start of healing and feeling better. I am motivated to help you find your own strengths and live a fulfilling life that you choose for yourself.
I provide evidence-based care that is focused entirely around you. I have a person-centered and collaborative therapeutic space that is based upon unconditional compassion, respect, and empathy. We can work within cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), solution focused therapy (SFT), or narrative therapy to help you find clarity with your experience.
During my practicum, I gained experience with chronic pain and motor vehicle collisions, and understand the substantial long-term effect that they can have both psychologically and physically. I also have a background in finance, and understand the complexity and demands of corporate positions.
Megan is a registered provisional psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. She holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, and a Bachelor of Arts with a major in psychology from the University of British Columbia. Megan also has her 200hr yoga teacher training, and in her spare time enjoys walking her aussiedoodle Charlie and practicing yoga.

Are you ready to go deep? Are you ready to throw caution to the wind, and jump? Are you ready to redefine yourself and your relationships: your relationship with yourself, your relationship with your partner, your relationship with your colleagues; your relationship with your past, your present, and your future? Have you had enough – enough of how things are, maybe how things have always been? Are you ready for a change? Are you ready to face the scary, confront the difficult, and this time, come out on top? Are you ready to work, invest and sacrifice for the sake of the change? Are you willing to try again – this time differently?
It’s not going to be easy or comfortable – growth and change never are – but this time around you won’t have to do it alone. It will require placing your trust in someone else, but more importantly it will require developing and strengthening trust in yourself. This is easier done with someone who believes in you when it’s hard to believe in yourself.
My work focuses on exploration: exploration of the self, exploration of relationships, exploration of ideas, exploration of dreams; exploration of potentials and possibilities. While there is importance, relevance and value in what is, I am more curious about and interested in what can be – and I believe you have a say in that. I believe in pushing limits and removing roadblocks, and am committed to providing you the tools needed to clear the way and pave your own path.
A Bit About Me: I love learning and am deeply inquisitive. I love exploring languages and cultures. I love diversity and plurality of thought, and exploring the world and its lived experiences through different perspectives. I enjoy music, theater, film, food (I’m a bit of a foodie), and spending time in nature.
Educational Background:
- B.S. Psychology w/ language studies Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah
- M.A. Clinical Psychology International Psychoanalytic University, Berlin, Germany
Approach: While my educational training was based in the psychoanalytic/psychodynamic tradition, I am also familiar with other modalities such as CBT and DBT. I adjust my therapeutic approach to the individual needs of the client. My personal affinities tend more towards humanistic (client-centred) and hermeneutic (interpretive, symbolic, or meaning-making) traditions. I am also comfortable incorporating spirituality and/or dreamwork in my therapeutic practice.
