“Mental health is not a destination but a process- its about how you drive, not where you’re going.”

My main focus as your therapist is to provide you with a safe, comfortable and compassionate environment in order to support you and meet you where you are at in your journey, wherever that may be. Our alliance is of the utmost importance and I strive to form meaningful and strong therapeutic connections so that my clients can flourish.

I approach therapy with the recognition that individuals are different, and that these differences have been shaped by upbringing, society and the environment as a whole. Working from a positive and person-centred lens, we will work together to identify your strengths and empower you in your journey towards meaningful growth and change. I have experience working with individuals, couples/relationships of all kinds, gender/sexuality/identity, trauma, ADHD and teen therapy.

Specializing in couples and relationship therapy, I help couples with opening lines of communication, disagreeing in a healthy, constructive and beneficial way by working towards deeper understanding and finding shared meaning. I believe strength and hope can be found in the darkest of places, and that grief and joy can coexist - My goal is to provide you with the right space and environment to find that balance!

Hi, I’m Madeleine! I specialize in working with highly self-aware individuals who tend to overthink, overanalyze, and try to logic their way through emotions. You might understand why you feel the way you do, but still feel stuck, disconnected, or unsure how to actually create change. Together, we’ll move beyond insight and gently build your ability to experience, process, and trust your emotions. I also believe therapy is about more than just addressing problems - it’s about recognizing your resilience, embracing your strengths, and reconnecting with yourself and those around you.

I draw on Internal Family Systems (IFS) and emotion-focused therapy to guide the therapeutic process. With IFS, we’ll gently explore the different parts of you that may be holding onto old patterns of thinking, feeling, or behaving. These patterns often developed to protect you, but over time they may have become unhelpful. Together, we’ll approach them with curiosity and compassion, creating space for growth, confidence, and new ways of being. With emotion-focused and somatic (body-based) approaches, we’ll turn emotional awareness into emotional change, learning how to identify, feel, and process emotions on a physical level.

My 12yr career as a registered nurse specializing in labour and delivery allowed me to witness the cycles of joy and trauma that accompany big moments and major life changes, and I have a unique understanding for these deeply personal and intimate moments. Experiences with infertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and loss can stir up a range of feelings, including anger, pain, isolation, hopelessness, and overwhelm. I support individuals and couples navigating these challenges using methods to help process trauma, holding space for their grief and learning new tools to take into the next phase of life. I know firsthand the intensity and demands of a career in the medical field and how challenging it can be to compartmentalize and separate your professional self from your personal self. Taking care of ourselves feels so foreign when our career is centered around taking care of others, often resulting in neglecting our family life, our social life, and ourselves. My own lived experience as a medical professional has guided my training and my approach to clients navigating relationships, self-esteem, stress, burnout, depression, anxiety, and trauma. I support folks in the medical field by helping them process traumatic work-related experiences and reconnecting with the people, hobbies and interests that remind you who you are beyond your work.

I also support young adults to navigate the confusion and difficulties of both the present and what the future may hold. Some of these life transitions may include moving from school to the work force, working a first full time job, changing friend groups and healthy family relationships. In my practice, I draw on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. In my couples work, I draw on my training in Gottman Level 1 My practice is informed by feminist and multicultural perspectives, recognizing the many factors that shape us as individuals, including these wealth of professional and life experience I gained during my nursing career in a variety of rural and urban settings across Canada and around the world I know how difficult it can be to share with someone, and my hope is that you feel heard and seen throughout our work together. Your life and experiences are yours alone; I don’t consider myself an expert on your life. I am honoured to walk alongside you in your therapeutic journey and to learn both about you and from you in our sessions.
